‘German matters!’ competition

During the scholastic year 2015/2016, the German Department at the University of Malta organised a competition for all students of German in Malta and Gozo. The aim of this competition was to encourage students to portray the importance of anything that is German, including the language, life and culture. Students were invited to work on their own or in groups and produce creative projects for the motto ‘German matters!’ Such contributions included models, charts, Powerpoint presentations, videos, poems, essays, posters and web-related projects. The participants from our school were:

The prize-giving ceremony for this competition was held on Saturday 14th May 2016 at the Sir Temi Zammit Hall, University. HE the Ambassador of Germany Ms Gudrun Sräga, as well as representatives from the German Department and the German-Maltese Circle attended the ceremony and awarded certificates and tokens of participation to all students. Great prizes were also awarded to the best three entries in various categories. Our school had a number of winners:

  • Noeleen Buhagiar: 1st in the category “Print”;
  • Grazia Magro: 2nd in the category “Print”;
  • Anthony Farrugia & Jerome Mercieca: 3rd in the category “Print”;
  • Leon Buttigieg: 3rd in the category “Digital Media”;
  • Kristina Falzon: Special Prize for Creativity.

Well done to all participants and winners, and remember that German matters! 🙂
